Underneath the CD option was a box to tick for live cd/dvd drive which I did and it then worked so I could load on my accounts software. The VM had of course saved that "state" but managed to clear it and get back to where I was. I followed your instructions for cd/dvd player and instead stating "Host" it showed the name of the original XP installation software even though it wasn't in the drive, in my thicko mode I clicked on that in case that was intended but whole computer froze solid and had to turn it off to start again. Just a couple of queries as I like to try!! and understand things. Hi Socratis, Apologies for late reply, been really busy.Thanks for help have got it running and seems ok. When I tried it a few years ago on I think 8.1 I got it all working but erratic so pulled out old computer, sure I found somewhere about installing printers etc but can't find it now.Īnother question can I add it to my Macfee security thingy not that I need to use the internet except for updates and drivers etc. I only need this for my accounts system MYOB that won't go beyond XP and basically only need to print and backup. Same with printer, shows found new hardware but wizard won't open software in drive. I can't load any programs on, it recognises the the drive CD/DVD player on USB but does not show cd thats in it. The Windows Hyper V and Powershell were both enabled, don't know why? Disabled and loaded XP Pro no problem.įirstly I accept that I am a computer idiot and apologise in advance. It worked with XP previously but did keep having hiccups making it unreliable so got out an old computer with XP on and used that.

I had a VM with XP Pro on this computer a couple years ago but a major disaster with win 10 Anniversary update formatted my whole computer and lost everything on it.
Don't know what to do next? Hoping its something simple, I would guess I need to turn it off but can't find where. Basically says Failed/Error "You have Auto Capture Keyboard turned on, This will cause the Virtual Machine to Automatically capture". Tried to upload screen print but keeps not allowing.

Hi, No problem creating a VM on my Win 10 but can't install WIN XP Pro from CD.
